Boston

Tomorrow marks the 115th Boston Marathon. I've been reading updates on Facebook all weekend now, and I'm pretty excited for all the runners. Thinking about it even gives me butterflies in my stomach.

I've been running since my freshman year of high school. People used to ask me if I had any specific aspirations for my running career. My response was that I'd love to run Boston; that was before I knew you had to qualify! Even though I thought that it would be "cool" to run Boston one day, it wasn't something I pursued.

Now, 14 years later, I find myself wondering if I could qualify for Boston. I spent an hour or so this morning crunching numbers. Entering my race times into pace calculators, counting weeks and days and wondering how much time it would really take to not only train for a marathon, but run it in under 3:35.

It seems almost impossible to me right now. I realize that it will probably take several marathons before I start getting close. It may take years.

One thing is certain: The journey toward that goal will be a hard one. It will also be one full of valuable lessons.

I'm definitely ready to add this goal to my life list!
